San Ramon Art & Wind FestivalSave the day(s) for the annual San Ramon Art & Wind Festival this weekend May 29 and 30, from 10 AM to 5 PM. There are enough activities to keep the whole family entertained. Here are some of the events:

Kite Flying Demonstrations

Kite flying demonstrations will be on hand for all to experience. These kite flyers are from all over the country and Canada. A special guest appearance by  seven kite flyers and folk artists from Weifang, China will participate in this year’s 2011 San Ramon Art & Wind Festival at San Ramon’s Central Park on May 29 & 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Weifang, China is home to the Weifang International Kite Museum and Kite Festival. Learn how to make your own kit – live demonstrations.

Hot Air Balloon Anyone!

Well actually this is for those interested in the mechanics of hot air balloons you have an opportunity to peek inside the balloons on Monday the 30th. You will have to get their early as the balloons are generally scheduled to take flight between 6:30 and 7:30 AM, weather permitting. If it is too windy the launch will not take place.

Entertainment

What is a festival without music and dancing. 3 Stages will be setup to entertain the young and the not so young. Musicians playing a variety of music through out the day – some for listening and some for dancing. Special events for the children with puppet shows and magic shows.

Food

Now let’s get serious. Festival food is always so good. The food booths are manned by local non-profit organizations as a way to raise funds and is generally the biggest fund raiser of the year. Ice cream, peach cobbler, sausage sandwiches, kettle corn, pizza just to name a few of the goodies will be available. Stop by the Sausage Sandwich booth which is where I will be working as a volunteer!

Hope to see you this weekend – it is always a good time for the family.
